Recall: Frozen Vegetables Sold at Costco

I decided to post this information because so many of our families eat these frozen vegetables from Costco, whether they walk on two or four legs.  Please be careful because the listeria monocytogenes organism is not something to take seriously and can be deadly.

costco_wholesale_214_64On May 2, 2016, CRF Frozen Foods expands their voluntary recall to include “All Frozen Vegetables and Fruit Products” due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.  Their original voluntary recall was on April 25, 2016 but has since been expanded.

The organism can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

A list of recalled products by name, sell by date and UPC code can be accessed by clicking the “Recall Information” below.  I even had 3 bags of the recalled products in my freezer this afternoon, so I will be returning them to Costco for a refund.
